AmSty, a leading producer of styrene monomer, polystyrene and certified recycled polystyrene in the Americas, announces the retirement of President and CEO Dr. Randy Pogue will begin October 15, 2025.

Dr. Pogue leaves after a long career in the chemical manufacturing industry, beginning with a 20-year career at Dow Chemical in the hydrocarbons business. Dr. Pogue then decided to be part of the team to start Americas Styrenics (AmSty), a joint venture of Dow Chemical and Chevron Phillips Chemical (CPChem), in 2008. After holding various positions within the new company, including senior vice president of corporate services, he became president and CEO in 2020, leading the organization for over five years before announcing his well-deserved retirement.

"It's been my privilege to be part of such a successful joint venture for more than 17 years, surpassing expectations of so many," said Dr. Pogue. "I appreciate the experience of not only relishing our successes but also pushing through challenging times with such a talented and driven group of people. I'm optimistic about AmSty's future as I pass the baton to continue its legacy."

AmSty's Board of Directors named Venki Chandrashekar, vice president of research and technology at CPChem, as president & CEO. He will retire from CPChem and join AmSty in his new role on September 16, 2025.

"I look forward to continuing AmSty's focus on safety and sustainability," said Chandrashekar. "AmSty products are the building blocks of essential materials we use every day, and as a leading producer of styrene and polystyrene, we are well positioned to meet the needs of our customers."

Chandrashekar has been at CPChem since 2012 and in his current role since 2021. His prior roles include general manager of Petrochemicals Operations and Technical, and director of strategic transactions, focusing on mergers and acquisitions and business strategy. He has also served on AmSty's Board of Directors since 2020. His career includes providing strategic consulting services to banks and manufacturing companies, as well as holding various leadership positions at LyondellBasell Industries and Equistar Chemicals.

Chandrashekar earned a Master of Science from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Technology from the University of Madras in India.
